She's from the humane society. I was going to get a kitten, but the society is moving later this month so they're having a "clearance sale" on cats (and dogs) over 6 months old to minimize the number of animals they move. Apparently she's 1 yr 9 mos. She was dropped off at the society in July, had 4 kittens a week later and just left the foster home on Monday. She's one of those tiny cats. She weighs no more than 5-6 lbs. I can't believe she carried 4 kittens! They must have been really small. The society named her Madeline, so she's Maddy for short. And I can already tell she's going to be a Baddy Maddy!
When Ziggy is in the house, I'm isolating her in a spare bedroom. Shortly after I brought her home yesterday, Ziggy was at the door and they were almost nose to nose as there is almost an inch clearance under the door. Two minutes later she was up in one of the living room windows watching the birds. I take that as a good sign. She's given me no indication she's mad at me.
When I can get Maddy to sit still, I'll try to get some better pictures so you can see her pretty face. This was the best shot I could get today. |

She seems very happy to be here. Her first 3 forays out of the room resulted in serious high energy exploring and sniffing escapades. Then we let her out again while we were eating dinner last night and she hung around us rather than explore further. And no, she wasn't after our food...just our company. I think I've lucked out and brought home a very friendly affectionate cat. She has a very loud purr for a little kitty! |

| fredzena | Oct 5, 2007 9:58am | | The integration process could take some time. Ziggy's hesitant, she's been giving warning hisses and when I had them in the same room together this morning, Maddy attacked her, and Ziggy made no effort to defend herself. Just took off. So I won't try that again for a few more days. I feel bad that during this isolation process, Ziggy has no access to her prime morning sunshine perching spot that overlooks the backyard. |

Sam has been licking Small's ears and then biting into her, which she hates so it is more exciting here than I like. |
